When the Going gets Tough, the Materialistic go Shopping

Materialists, people who attach an excessive amount of importance to physical things, tend to experience more stress from traumatic events. This combined with a generally low self esteem, materialistic people tend to be compulsive shoppers. This conclusion comes out of a study done on two different Israeli towns, one that was under a terrorist attack and one that wasn’t. Study leader Ayalla Ruvio says that the relationship between post-traumatic stress and materialism occurs in a wider context than just potentially life-threatening events, and there is important research to be done regarding the issue. Any person who has suffered from shopaholism will surely agree!
