Shopping Addiction? There Is Help

Dr. David Tolin is founder and director of the Anxiety Disorders Center and serves in a number of other capacities at the Institute of Living. He hosts a new television show called “My Shopping Addiction,” which airs on the Oxygen Network Mondays at 11pm. He has appeared on Oprah and Oz, and has some words for compulsive shoppers as we head into the “shopping season.” Watch for the signs of shopping addiction and seek help if needed. There is assistance available for people addicted to shopping but it is different than, say, drug addiction, because we all have to shop sometimes. Behavior modification will work, where abstaining entirely isn’t possible.
