She used this technique on a recent shopping trip when she found a heavily discounted sweater that she fell in love with. As she went through the “justification thinking” process, she realized she was already picturing it in her closet, and knew she needed to break the cycle with her question. The answer for her was “heavier,” and the relief of knowing this let her walk away from the sweater.
